Katarínka is located in western Slovakia in the forests of the Little Carpathians 20 km north of the Trnava between village of Dechtice and Naháč, in region of Trnava.
I called it hiden beauty becouse of the position of the ruins. From the surrounding roads KATARÍNKA almost not visible. The fastest route from Trnava leads to Dechtice. Approximately three kilometers behind the village on top of the hill, turn on the stony path that takes you through about 1500 meters will lead to a grassy park. From there you have to have to tread on their own. Pleasant forest trail from the parking lot you get to the ruins in about 15 minutes.

In verdant pastures he gives me repose;

Like in many countries the path are signed well with diferents colours.
This is like you can see along all the way till your destination. There is no way to get lost.
“Even though I walk in the dark valley

In the seventeenth century it was damaged several times during the uprisings and the Turkish invasions, but was always repaired and life pulsing in her further. What were unable troops managed to politics – in July 1786 the monastery along with hundreds of other decree of Emperor Joseph II. canceled. Monks had to leave this place, inventory was taken and destroyed, and the monastery began to deteriorate and change in ruins. It would seem that here ends his interesting and turbulent history.

Today can still see well-preserved ruins of the church tower and the remains of one wing of the monastery building. The monastery is located off the main roads and major tourist routes, which on the one hand helped to maintain them in pretty good shape (even after two hundred years of decline standing walls and tower of the church), but on the other hand, the monastery has remained hidden from the eyes and attention of most history buffs and precious monuments.
the others stone rejected has become the powerful support …
Trip to Katarinka not just be about learning about history. There you will find plenty of ruins to organize a family picnic, or you can just lie in the grass or sit on the bench.
Beautiful nature around .
